We are delighted to announce that on Wednesday selected pupils from Years 2 and 3 will be going to Bromley Arena, home of Bromley Football Club, to use their amazing new 3G floodlit all-weather pitches.
The selected children will take part in the Babington House combined football trials. Many of the boys and girls at Babington play football outside of school. The PE department would like to develop and showcase these talents by taking part in a variety of fixtures and tournaments with other independent and state schools this year. Women's football is a growing sport in the UK and at a later date this opportunity could open up to other year groups. Our vision is to have all girls, all boys and mixed teams at Babington, with great match play skills.
A spokesperson for Bromley Arena said, "We are absolutely delighted to support Babington House by integrating our new sports and leisure complex within the school's sports facilities. I'm sure pupils and staff alike will get a huge benefit from this new partnership and should enable the school to reach heights on the sports field as great as they are currently achieving on the academic front - let's hope we find sports superstars of the future from Babington House"
The link between Babington House and Bromley FC should generate a pathway for our more enthusiastic and talented footballers, as Bromley Town have a vibrant junior girls and boys section into which Babington House pupils would be welcomed.
Bromley Arena have also kindly agreed to allow access to their facilities on a regular basis on Wednesday afternoons as part of Babington Houses physical education curriculum.
Mr Unwin and Mr Perry are very excited at the prospect of coaching a Babington Football Team and look forward to the trials.
