On Thursday 7th November the Macaulay Library was officially opened and Jemma Appleby's work of art 'Democracy' was unveiled.
With excellent and moving speeches from Mr Tony Guise, Chair of Governors, and Jemma Appleby, former pupil of Babington House School and now a renowned artist, the evening was one to remember for many parents, pupils, Old Babingtonians, Local Councillors and friends who attended.
The Library is a celebration of ideas, a place for debate and a place for quiet contemplation of choice. Jemma's artwork was commissioned and funded by an anonymous donation for the Library. The theme chosen for her work was the greatest achievement of humanity - democracy, being the foundation of all progress and the balancing of society. The artwork was very well received, it challenges one's perceptions and perspectives in so many ways.
Pupils from the Babington House TV Club were on their first assignment to film the event.
