Our Nursery and Reception is always jam packed with fun and educational activities where the children learn in a safe and happy environment. In this exciting area of the school we provide a first class, independent education for girls and boys between the ages of 3 and 5. This critical stage in your child's development, often referred to as the ' Foundation Stage', is the time the children spend before they start the National Curriculum in Year One.
At Babington House we aim to provide a caring, stimulating and hard working family atmosphere where each individual child can develop socially, morally, spiritually as well as academically. Within our broad, traditional Christian ethos we seek to develop the children's awareness and involvement in the life of the school and the wider community.
There is a natural progression from our Nursery and Reception classes into the Prep Department and then Senior School and we are housed in the same beautiful group of buildings on Grange Drive in Chislehurst, Bromley.
I am immensely proud to lead such a vibrant community and encourage you to come and see for yourself. Mrs McDonald-Smith, our Head of Nursery and Prep, or I would be delighted to show you around. Please phone our Admissions Secretary on 020 84675537 to arrange a visit.
Mr Tim Lello
Children may join our Nursery from the start of the term after their third birthday. They then move on to our Reception class in the September of the academic year in which they turn 5 years of age.
Our purpose built, co-educational Nursery, with dedicated outdoor learning environment, is an inspiring area where our children thrive. They are happy and eager to learn and look forward to coming to school. Our qualified teaching staff ensure that all children experience as many learning opportunities as possible; they are challenged to push the boundaries of their potential. We also use specialists in Spanish, French, PE and Music alongside the Nursery teachers to widen the children's experience even further.
In our Nursery, all children are given their own 'Key Person', who is specifically assigned to them and monitors their learning. Our children are encouraged to explore, imagine and develop through both taught activities and the continuous provision of carefully structured play. We offer opportunities for free flow from indoor to outdoor environments at set times throughout the day. Our children are encouraged to develop independence in both their actions and thoughts through a range of activites designed to capture their imagination.
We create a learning environment which caters for the needs of each individual and ensures pupils develop new skills, broaden their knowledge and achieve their potential. Within a broad, traditional Christian context we promote ideals of honesty, integrity, trust and respect and cultivate a relationship between home and school that promotes mutual cooperation and support.
We have high standards of behaviour, dress and conduct, benefiting from small class sizes and a strong sense of community. We are also committed to outstanding music, drama, sport and the arts in their broadest sense and we offer a wide selection of clubs, societies and extra-curricular opportunities which go on before, during and after school.
