What a busy day! This morning we enjoyed an informative canal cruise in some welcome sunshine. Amsterdam is such a beautiful city to see from the water. We then walked through the picturesque streets, all the while being mindful of avoiding the many bicycles, and made our way to the Van Gogh museum. At the museum we participated in fascinating expert-led guided tours. We are currently waiting to enter the house of Anne Frank.

This morning we woke up bright and early to sing Happy Birthday to Isabel - thanks to Mrs Hedley for the greatly appreciated cakes and party bags. We went on to have a thrilling day at Efteling theme park. Some of our favourite rides were Piranha, the Python and Bob! Lots of fun was had by all and those children who challenged themselves to go on more exhilarating rides than ever before are currently beaming with pride and brimming with self confidence. We are currently on the coach heading back to Amsterdam for dinner at the Pancake House.
Dinner at the Pancake Bakery proved extremely popular with the girls who enjoyed their pancakes and traditional poffertjes too!
Thursday 26th May
Today we visited Zaanse Schans, a replica eighteenth century Dutch village. We watched a clog making demonstration, saw inside a working windmill, tasted different cheeses and learnt some traditional dance steps too! We also fitted in some souvenir shopping; the pupils are very excited to give the presents they have bought to their families when we get home tomorrow. For dinner we drove into Amsterdam to visit the famous Sea Palace Chinese restaurant where we were treated to a vast feast, a truly special treat to mark the last night of our trip.
Friday 27th May
This morning we have visited a Delft pottery and learnt how the pieces are made and the classic blue paint colour is created. We saw some beautiful finished pieces at the end of our tour too. We are currently driving past Rotterdam, having made excellent time this morning. We are hoping to board an earlier ferry which will get us home a little earlier.
We have made good time and are getting on the ferry one hour earlier than planned. We are all safely through passport control. Our new expected arrival time is 8pm.
