Day 5
Today (Friday), the pupils visited a small family-run chocolate factory in Compiegne. We watched a demonstration how they make the chocolate and sampled a couple of the delicious delicacies.
We had a very smooth crossing, and a little more shopping. It was commented how lovely the pupils manners were and how knowledgeable they were calculating their payments in Euros. The pupils were a pleasure to take away on this residential trip and teachers and pupils had wonderful school journey to Paris.
Day 4
A cultural day was spent in Paris. It began with a coach tour of the beautiful city, taking in sites including: Notre Dame, Place de la Concorde and Musee D'Orsy; followed by a boat trip on the Seine, learning more about the history of the city.
They then drove to the Eiffel Tower where they picnicked on the grass overlooking the tower. Then onto the Tulleries Gardens, where they visited the Louvre; the pupils were mesmerised by The Mona Lisa and getting so close was a truly a memorable experience.
After dinner by the Arc de Triumph, it was then onto the Tour Montparnasse. This is the fastest lift in Europe. It travelled up fifty-six floors in seconds; and finally up up to the fifty-ninth floor. The views were incredible. Another lovely day in France!
Day 3
Pupils on the Paris trip, spent a wonderful day in Disneyland Paris. The girls and teachers were all incredibly courageous and tackled Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones, Thunder Mountain without fear! Many girls had never been to a theme park before; the group work and support was highly commendable. A huge amount of fun was had by all, and once again the girls were a real asset to Babington House School.
Pupils used their French Language skills to ask for various objects and budgeted well in the gift shop. They have also sampled several new foods. They loved the parade and are looking forward to the firework display later.
