The Preparatory and Senior Sports Day was a wonderful celebration of Sport at Babington. Held on our Sports Ground on Elmstead Lane, the weather held and the atmosphere was enjoyed by pupils, parents and staff.
Years 1 & 2 worked so hard in the morning and enjoyed their activities, including baton relay race, hurdle race, close control football, tennis and rugby medley, bean bag throw and the traditional sprint.
Everyone enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch altogether on the field.
We were privileged to have Phil Hurst, Great Britain 3000m runner, to open Sports Day and run a lap of the track with the pupils, something which will hopefully inspire them. Phil stayed around all day and helped with race timing, chatted to pupils and gave out prizes - thank you Phil.
Some of the Track and Field events in the Year 3 to 11 Sports in the afternoon were very competitive, including of course the House relay race.
The overall winning House was Nightingale.
Thank you to Mr Perry and Miss O'Reilly for making Sports Day such a success, for all parents who supported the event and congratulations to all pupils who participated so enthusiastically.
