A team of students and their tutor from the London College of Fashion came to visit Babington. They were all undergraduates studying either a BA (Hons) in Fashion Illustration, Photography, Design and Development, Pattern Cutting and Womenswear Design Technology.
They visited the Year 10 and 11 Textile and Art GCSE students. It was amazing to have our work seen by them, they chatted to the pupils about their work and were astounded and commented on the level of talent we have at Babington. They joined a Year 6 art class during the afternoon and ended the day with the Junior Fashion Club, where the dress they made is currently on display in school.
Here are some quotes from 6 pupils on their experience:
"We were extremely delighted by the fact that we would be able to spend an hour and a half with them in our art lesson! They had bin bags with them, which thoroughly confused us. It turned out that Tabitha, being a fabulous role-model,
was going to get a new look. The team worked fast and hard and made a creative ball gown with bin bags! White and black were the only available colours, which they used amazingly. Afterwards, they told us to make a dress in teams of four.
We made dresses of all types!" Sarah D
"Once all the groups had finished with their dresses they all lined up to do a catwalk while the students took pictures of them with the school camera. Afterwards we went down to the hall to do a more formal catwalk. My group was really upset, because we had to rip up our beautiful creation and throw it away! We really enjoyed having them and it was lots of fun making a new dress with the oddest materials." Amaya
"It was a fabulous afternoon. Thank you to Mrs Russo for organising it, especially as the LCF have never visited a school before and we were honoured to be the first one nationwide they chose to visit." Abigail
