The co-educational Sixth Form at Babington House is an exciting new development for the school and we welcome admissions from our own Year 11 and from outside. We offer a programme which is individual to each young person and one that encourages students to be the very best that they can be. The emphasis is very much on focused study, academic endeavour and practical work experience. We help our students achieve the best grades they are capable of and make sure their university applications (or job applications) are well supported.
Sixth Formers can enjoy the wider benefits on offer at Babington House, such as art, drama, sport and a wide variety of clubs and societies, however, the overriding priority is to achieve the best A Level results possible and undertaking relevant work experience which will make a university personal statement stand out. We also have significant expertise of how to apply to American universities.
We specialise in small teaching groups under the guidance of fully qualified, highly experienced A Level teachers. Regular progress reports, daily discussions with a personal tutor and a full programme of lessons, tutorials and independent research all help to create an environment where students can concentrate on their studies. We aim to minimise any distractions during the working day so that students can quietly focus on the task at hand. The Sixth Form programme also includes careers and PHSE which is supported by close mentoring by their form tutors and the Head of Seniors. Students can expect 3 weekly reports reflecting the close tracking that Babington uses to ensure each pupil preforms to their very best potential.
As Ambassadors to the school community, Sixth Form students take on a variety of roles within the school and enjoy participation in many school trips, such as organised trips to Partiament, Oxford University and Skiing.
Our Sixth Formers are expected to wear smart clothes that would be suitable for a business and professional environment. The days are busy and productive, with A Level lessons, work experience, individual study time, consultations with individual tutors and independent research.
We offer A Level courses in English, Maths, Further Maths, Business Studies, Politics, Geography, History, German, Chemistry, Physics and Biology. Prospective students are encouraged to contact us about their desired A Level subjects because we may be able to accommodate a wider range of subjects, provided there is a demand.
