Old Babingtonians Reunion - 1st May 2015 - Roundup of the Evening
130 Old Babingtonians from near and far travelled to see their old school and meet with friends from the past. They listened to speeches from the Headmaster and a presentation by Mr Jopson on the history of the School, both of which were well-received.
Our last reunion, organised by Mrs Lee in October 2005, set me on a good path to arrange another reunion 10 years later. With the help of my colleagues, I was confident that it would be a successful evening and it was!
Our guests were able to view numerous items of memorabilia from our archives, including rare photographs, literature and other such mementos.
There was a message board displaying messages from OBs living abroad and from other OBs who could not join us, but wanted to send their best wishes for a wonderful evening.
I am very happy to announce that Mr & Mrs Kennedy and their son Robert, who attended Babington House School from 1992-1995, very kindly made a donation to the school and a cup has been purchased in the family name. Known as "The Kennedy Cup for Kindness" it will be awarded to a pupil by the Headmaster on Speech Day.
I would like to thank all the pupils who worked very hard to make the evening so enjoyable and a great success. They all carried out their duties perfectly with impeccable manners and I was extremely proud of them all.
The Chamber Choir sang with such beauty, poise and elegance, and our guests had the opportunity to sing the School Song which delighted everyone. Mrs Whittaker was very enthusiastic conducting the audience to sing to full capacity. The smiles and laughter once the song had ended was a joy to see and I am sure there were a few tears of happiness.
My thanks go to the Music Department for all their hard work arranging choir practices and making this whole evening a very memorable occasion!
Our catering team worked extremely hard making delicious finger foods and miniature desserts which tasted amazing. They helped to serve drinks and clear away at the end of the evening and I would like to thank them all.
The caretakers were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble.
A huge thank you to everyone who was involved, a fantastic evening was had by all and I look forward to arranging another Reunion in years to come!
