The first week of Summer Term 2 has seen Babington House School buzzing with energy, achievement, and adventure, as pupils and staff returned from half-term ready to make the most of the final weeks of the school year.

🏆 Sports Days and Team Spirit

Our KS1 Sports Day was a resounding success, filled with joy, effort, and fantastic sportsmanship. Pupils from Years 1 and 2 competed with great enthusiasm, cheered on by their peers and families. Congratulations to Fry House, who emerged as the overall winners. Special recognition goes to our Year 7 leaders, whose support and maturity helped make the event run so smoothly. Meanwhile, Year 6 represented Babington in cricket matches against West Lodge and Merton Court with impressive performances, and our Year 3 and 4 swimming team secured a proud third place at their gala.

🎨 Art Exhibition Brilliance

The GCSE Art, Product Design, and Textiles Exhibition was a stunning showcase of talent and imagination. Congratulations to our creative students and dedicated Art Team for delivering such a vibrant and inspiring event. The exhibition was a true celebration of hard work and innovation.

🎓 Academic Achievement & Exploration

Pupils across Years 7 to 12 have completed their end-of-year exams with dedication and focus. Year 10 and 12 students are now preparing for their upcoming Work Experience placements, ready to step into the world of work and explore future career pathways.

In class, learning remains lively and creative. Year 3 explored persuasive writing through advertising projects, Year 4 designed theme parks, and Year 5 became detectives during a hands-on workshop at Kew Gardens. Year 6, meanwhile, enjoyed a residential trip to Snowdonia, taking part in white-water rafting, archery, and gorge walking—strengthening friendships and resilience in equal measure.

🧠 Learning Support & Wellbeing

This week’s newsletter shared strategies for managing exam stress, including mindfulness, time management, and exercise. Students were also encouraged to practise mnemonics and active revision methods to support their learning. These tools help turn pressure into motivation during this crucial exam period.

Culture & Curiosity

Year 10 French students learned about the vibrant city of Toulouse and its rich cultural history through the music of Claude Nougaro, while History classes drew thoughtful parallels between Elizabeth I and II, enriching their understanding of British identity and leadership across the centuries.

🐌 Pirate Ships, Snails & Map Makers

In the Prep and EYFS, children have been immersed in wonderfully creative and exploratory learning. Reception pupils embraced a swashbuckling pirate theme, building ships and creating treasure maps, while Nursery explored the world of mini-beasts. Year 1 dazzled with their dinosaur fact files, and Year 2 created aerial maps of the school as budding geographers. Year 4 looked ahead to Science Week and a chocolate workshop, while Year 5 finished reading Kensuke’s Kingdom and began imagining their own endings.

As the summer term gathers momentum, we look forward to a rich calendar of events, celebrations and achievements. Here’s to another exciting few weeks at Babington House!
