We are delighted to announce the appointment of Elizabeth (Liz) Channon as our new Head of Prep, effective from January 2026.

Mrs Channon brings with her a wealth of experience across both the independent and state education sectors, having taught children from Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) through to Key Stage 2, including pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). Most recently, she led the Pre-Prep at James Allen’s Girls’ School (JAGs) for nine successful years and previously served as Deputy Head at Sydenham High Prep School.

Mrs Channon is already a familiar and respected face within the Babington community, having served as a dedicated member of our Board of Governors for the past four years. Throughout this time, she has shown an unwavering commitment to the school’s values and has gained a deep understanding of what makes Babington so special.

Commenting on her new role, Mrs Channon said:

“Babington House School is a school that I know well through my role as Governor here for the last four years. The school mission — inspire, value, and nurture — and the school values are a lived reality at Babington and reflect my own beliefs about childhood and education. You can feel the warmth and nurture throughout the school, and I value the focus Babington places on each child’s individual journey. To be able to work as part of the whole school and lead the Prep is a wonderful opportunity. I am very much looking forward to getting to know and working with all members of the Babington community — children, parents, and staff.”

We are incredibly excited about the future of the Prep School under Mrs Channon’s leadership and look forward to the many positive contributions she will bring to our school community.

Mr Laird, Headteacher, said:
“We are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Channon as the new Head of Prep to the Babington community. This decision was met with unanimous support from staff, parents, students, and Governors, all of whom recognised Mrs Channon as the ideal person to lead our Prep School into its next chapter.

Mrs Channon brings not only a wealth of experience but also a deep understanding of Babington, having served as a dedicated Governor. Her familiarity with our values, community, and vision positions her perfectly to build on the strong foundations already in place.

I am genuinely excited about the future of the Prep School under Mrs Channon’s leadership.

We look forward to welcoming Mrs Channon to the Babington family in January.

Mrs Channon, the new Head of Prep
