The first half of the summer term has been filled with achievements, milestones, and inspiring moments across Babington House School, as captured in our latest newsletter issue.
🏅 Ski Success on the Slopes
Babington House proudly launched its first-ever Ski Race Team, competing at the Kent Schools’ Ski Championships with outstanding results. Our teams secured three out of four possible medals—including gold and silver in various team categories—and Will in Year 10 clinched an individual bronze. Congratulations to Casper (Year 5) and Ella (Year 10), named our fastest skiers! A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Evans and the supportive parents who made this exciting new chapter possible.
🌍 Acts of Kindness and Leadership
A huge thank you goes to Sixth Form student Michael, who led a hugely successful food bank drive, collecting 881 tins to support local families. This initiative, supported by our House system and Year 10 students, is a brilliant example of compassion, teamwork, and leadership in action.
🎶 Music and Creativity on Display
Our recent Informal Concert was a beautiful celebration of musical talent, featuring pupils of all ages. Many performed for the first time, and every act was met with warm applause. A big thank you to Mr Showell for his accompaniment and to our wonderful Music Department. We look forward to the upcoming Senior and Prep Summer Concerts on 24th and 25th June.
🧮 Academic Excellence
In the UKMT Junior Maths Challenge, 24 students from Years 7 and 8 took on tough mathematical problems. We are proud to announce multiple silver and bronze awards, with Matthew (Year 7) earning the top result in the school. Bravo to all participants!
📚 From Classroom to Real-World Learning
Highlights from the classroom include:
- Year 12 Physics students conducting circuit resistance investigations.
- Year 10 tackling oral assessments in languages with focus and resilience.
- Year 7 exploring Maths through Desmos and Blooket.
- Year 5 engaging deeply with “Kensuke’s Kingdom” in English and applying algebra in Maths.
- Nursery and Reception diving into topics like robots, continents, and friendship with energy and curiosity.
🏏 Sporting Spirit
The Prep and Senior pupils have been enjoying a packed PE calendar, from Rounders and Cricket to Athletics and Rugby. A standout moment was Alessia (Year 9) winning gold in the Kent County Championships High Jump, breaking both club and county records. She is now the U15 World Lead and ranks 19th in the U18 World Rankings—a phenomenal achievement!
☕ Coffee, Conversations and Community
Mr Laird hosted the first Headteacher’s Coffee & Croissant Morning, welcoming parents for open dialogue about the future of the school. These informal gatherings will become a regular fixture, ensuring collaboration and transparency in our shared journey.
As the exam season continues, our Year 11 and 13 students are facing it with bravery and resilience. The whole Babington community is behind them—cheering them on as they give their very best.
We’re incredibly proud of everything our pupils and staff have achieved this term. Wishing all families a restful and sunny half term break. ☀️
