Our Year 10 pupils made the MFL classroom here at Babington House School a vibrant and interactive space through the use of our popular Spanish prop boxes.
Props stimulate imagination and create a playful atmosphere, encouraging students to use Spanish in practical, low-pressure ways. For instance, a toy food item can spark a fun shopping dialogue, or a sombrero can set the scene for a cultural role-play. Associating vocabulary or grammar with visual and tactile objects makes learning easier and more enjoyable.
The benefits of using props for our students:
1. Building confidence: Props shift the focus away from the speaker, helping pupils feel less self-conscious.
2. Enhancing memory skills: Linking words to objects improves language retention.
3. Fostering creativity: Props inspire spontaneous use of Spanish in conversations.
4. Encouraging collaboration: Group tasks with props promote teamwork and social interaction.
Thank you Year 10 for your creativity in your learning of languages. Next time that you are completing a role-play task in MFL, why not ask your teacher to try on one of our lovely comedy glasses or colourful hats!
